What does rife mean?

The discussion was in the context of changing the name. It's actually spread by rodents. Not by monkeys.

That gay men are more at risk does not contradict that and does not means it is rife. It appears there were 32000 cases in the USA. Assume 90% were LGBT+. That is still not rife.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation estimates that the US has at least 20 million LGBTQ+ adults. 0.144%
