If only the journalists could do their jobs and get through to these people!!!

Trump justifies their racial, ethnic, and religious bigotry.

Some of them are poor and uneducated. Many are doing fairly well for themselves. They own businesses. They are farmers, teachers, bus drivers, butchers, and nurses.

They watch Fox and listen to AM talk radio. One of their local networks is probably owned by Sinclair. They hang with like minded people at Facebook and never fact check anything. They think Kamala and AOC are complete idiots. Don't understand why anyone would vote for them. They love how Trump stands up for America against our allies.

I love the irony of backing cops and backing a felon.

Collecting farm subsidies, have government jobs, drive on rural roads subsidized by urban tax dollars, cutting meat that is affordable due to the aforementioned farm subsidies.

I like nurses though. Not exactly Trump's demographic however.

Nurses in exurbs and rural areas don't fit the usual profile.

There are Democrats and left of center Independents here. They don't advertise the fact. No need to invite vandalism.

Certain races are contested here. President is not one of them.

A lot of this is true. This may blow your mind, but they’re also doctors, lawyers, working class black and Hispanic people, middle class white suburbanites of various educational backgrounds, Indian immigrants that own businesses, and other groups that feel like they did just fine under Trump and don’t like what they see as a shift of center to the left over the past few years.

Time to let go of the whole Basket of Deplorables thing.

There is a lot of semi-truck traffic on these "rural roads subsidized by urban tax dollars"

When Pritzker took office, the rural roads and even highways were in piss poor condition. That pretty much changed overnight.

Lots of people here still hate him over mask mandates and so-called lock downs.

A lot of this is true. This may blow your mind, but they’re also doctors, lawyers,

The doctors I know that talk politics are definitely left of center. So many of the younger ones are saddled with debt. They have paid for years, and owe more than when they started.

Their staffs are shifting left.

Lawyers are a mixed bag. One I know remembers the 8% gdp growth and $1.50 gas Trump created.

I-55 isn't a "rural road" - it's a transportation corridor. There are plenty of roads to nowhere that service 3-4 homes out in the fields.

There is  semi traffick on those back roads. They were banned at one time decades ago.

locals like moi also use the back roads to avoid highways and Interstates.

Those back roads also interconnect small towns.

Lots of trucks also use parts of 47, 45, and 1 presumably to avoid the weigh stations and interstate traffick or as a short cut.

I never have before but some of the tropes here kinda make me want to. People that work hard and build things get tired of being talked down to by people who oftentimes haven’t done shit.
