Goode could really not guard anyone on MSU team. Not sure why he was in there so much down the stretch as we needed stops and a usable ballhandler to get it to Domask, Shannon, and Hawkins in positions to make plays.
Running through Hawkins worked pretty well with him doing a pretty effective 1/4 set from the side, but they went away from it. Hawkins has really improved his ability to get his own shot which makes that work.
And nobody on MSU could handle TSj and he had actually less touches when we had the drought.

Really, just give him the ball and get the fuck out of the way and let him go to hole.

My concern all year has been endgame execution. Hope we adjust.

And on D we are not really stopping anything as well as we were earlier in year.
It seems like when we got our offense going after Xmas we stopped guarding in space, and closing out, and helping. Basic shit.

I think we are actually better off with another player other than Domask bringing the ball up against pressuring quick guards. With Domask, it seems they pressure and reach around to get steals, (several this year) today was another example. Yet with Rodgers bringing it up quickly, even the athletic guards are back peddling, not to mention any type of mismatch with a big guarding him.

Doubts were a plenty beginning of the year with Rodgers being pg, it seems Domask is really and we are better with Ty!

Offense is way to stagnant for the MOST talented team in the B1G to have droughts etc....those were Izzo words, not mine.

BU better figure this out, 3 on the road coming up, pissed away a Top 10 ranking and maybe a 3 seed with this loss.

I know it was at MSU, but damn, Wisky lost, separation is what we needed today, instead we got constipation for about 12-15 minutes of this game with a Top 10 ranked team.

Michigan up next. We don't play defense and the gimme might not be a gimme. Then at Md, who we can't beat, and at tPSU.

If we drop one to Michigan at home, panic buttons everywhere are going off.

LOL. That would be bad, but we need to stop the we can outscore people mentality. Kind of Iowa like.

We are down to 39th in Adj defense in KenPom, 47th in Torvik. Will not go far in NCAA's unless we can get more stops.
The weirdest stat I have seen for this team all year is no ability get TO's, which really means we are not getting any deflections, or hard traps.
We rank 358th in country out of 362.

I think teams get into their stuff or get where they want to go a little too comfortably lately. We have some size and length, and strength (except for the post), but not much in terms of putting pressure on teams.
We get beat off the dribble and isolations a lot. Need to clean up some things.

Having Domask & Goode on the court @ the same time is not good for a team that likes to switch everything. Too easy for the opposing  team to get a favorable matchup.

I also had the “let them score so we can get the ball back” thought that Iowa (and Lou Tepper) plays with. Brad has gone full retard on the NBA style of play concepts.

I don't think we have the foot speed to guard out front against quick guards.
Nonetheless, we better get back to playing some defense.

Does anyone else think it's weird how Underwood will invoke defense when explaining his decision not to play certain freshmen? Yet, he still plays people like Goode and Domask (matchup'd  up w/ guards)...I mean he even played A Plummer even though he was horrific on defense.

He needs to play DGL.

I agree, thinking about it makes me wish we didn't redshirt S Harris.

I advocated a few weeks ago to burn his RS. This is probably our best chance to do something in the tourney for a couple years unless we clean house in the portal. He doesn’t need huge minutes by any means but we desperately need someone who can stay in front of someone. It’s not like he wasn’t any threat at all to score and we have a bunch of guys who can do that.

Ty can’t stay in front of quick guards really either although he’s a big step up from Luke Goode, the walking And 1

DGL has quickness on defense. Bring him in for a couple of minutes every now and then to help shake up any rhythym the other team might have on offense.
