Would we be happy if we draft Caleb he has lots of great stats in mostly losing seasons (with 0 playoff wins), and he goes on to win a SB with the Jets in year 12? Is that a “win” for the Bears? Good career? Sure. But we’re looking for a franchise changing quarterback? No?

You seem pretty happy with Fields, who is 10-28 and doesn’t have good stats - so why wouldn’t you be?  Whether you argue his personal production or his W/L record is more important, Fields has been bad and you still love him - so yes, of course.

If the Bears picked Caleb Williams and he had a Matt Stafford career as a quarterback - big numbers, consistently leading one of the best offenses in the league - that’d be an unqualified massive win, yes.

If Fields throws for 5,000 yards and 20 TDs on 727 attempts next year while going 4-12 (let’s call it 5-12) you gonna be pumping him up the same way you’re pumping up Stafford?

Answer please.

“Sharp” football analysis disagrees. Bad decisions. Got impatient.

So you are signing up for 0 playoff wins the next 12 years as long as his yardage numbers are really good. Got it. Stats are all that matters then.

Do you really not see the difference between 12 years of data and 3 (one of which is severely tainted)?

How many times have I said “then limit it to three years?”

And your response is, well Stafford was hurt for a lot of his first three years.

And then I say “okay then limit it to 38 starts?”

And your response is to ignore those numbers and move on to what he did in year 4?

We’ve already played this game like 2-3 times today.

No matter how you slice it - Stafford’s whole career, his NFL service, his number of starts.  Through this point Stafford was considerably better both in terms of production/numbers AND W/L record, if you believe that can be tied to a QB.

Hope Justin gets to air it out 45 times a game so he can inflate his stats.

Do we inherit the 2009-2013 Detroit Lions defense and Jim Schwartz as our coach too?

Like just imagine how you'd react if the Bears had one of the best offenses and worst defenses in the league this year instead of vice versa, and PAMan blamed the W/L record on Fields.

Again, Stafford didn’t play his 38th game until year 4. He went 4-12 and threw a measly 20 TDs on a record number of pass attempts with an all-time great WR at his peak. Hang a banner.

Correct.  He played his 38th start in year 4.  Through those 38 starts he was 17-21.  He had thrown 71 TD.  You're mocking him for these numbers.

Justin Fields, through 38 starts, is 10-28.  He has thrown 40 TD.  You have been arguing for months that the Bears have to keep him.

Obviously logical consistency isn't even a thought to you here, but jesus christ.

And don’t want to give Mahomes the ball back with time. That should have been a consideration. Especially when your best receiver is wide open underneath.

Stats obviously don't matter in terms of evaluating a QB, or there'd be no argument to keep Justin Fields.

W/L records also don't matter in terms of evaluating a QB, or there'd be no argument to keep Justin Fields.

It seems like maybe all that really matters are highlights?  Some nebulous notion of a guy's 'ceiling' (ignoring that through the same point, Stafford was thought to have a much higher ceiling than Fields is right now).

Except the guy was wide open in the end zone. The only thing stopping a TD would have been a drop, a sack, or getting hit when throwing the ball. The last one happened.

Stafford got to throw the ball a lot more than Fields. He threw the ball about 200 times more than Fields in 9 less starts first 3 years. And had an all-time great WR in his prime.

He got greedy. Should have taken the lay up. You’d be bashing Fields for the same.

Apparently you are signing up for zero playoff games with Fields and Eberlose.

Again, the next 2 years look like they will be a waste.
