Stafford was pretty good at stuffing the stat sheet (with an all-time great WR and an insane amount of pass attempts). Yay. His career results are mixed at best. He was widely viewed as a loser until 2021.

Career results mixed and - whether you count the whole thing or just the 38 games or the 3 years, pretty much any way you slice the data - notably better than the current QB.

I think it’s a lot more fair to tie a qb to a win loss record over 12 years than it is over 3, one of which wasn’t even remotely a serious effort to win.

Then tie it to Stafford over three years and post your results here.

Or the same number of starts, 38.

No matter what you tie it to, it doesn’t look good for Fields.

I don’t think it’s fair to tie a team’s record to a QB, but if it is then the QB decision this off-season is really easy.

That's just completely stupid. The guy in the end zone was wide open.

“Sharp” football analysis disagrees. Bad decisions. Got impatient.

It’s not the same. Stafford missed a lot of starts year 1 and 2. I’m also pretty sure they didn’t actively tank an entire season.

So stats matter more than winning and “elevating” your team. Got it.

I hope Justin gets to air it out 40x a game with an all-time receiver next year.

Stafford inherited a team that had not won a single game the year before.

With incredible consistency, the valid stats are the ones that make Fields look good and the invalid ones are the ones that make him look bad - even if they’re the same stats.

W/L record is entirely unfair to tie to a QB, unless you’re trying to denigrate a guy who is better than Fields in which case he has a bad record so he was a bust at 1.01.  But it’s unfair to compare his whole 10+ year career to Fields’ 3 seasons.  And it’s also unfair to compare his 3 seasons to Fields, because Stafford was hurt for more of them.  And it’s ALSO unfair to compare his first 38 starts to Fields’ first 38, because the 0-18 team he inherited had better talent.

Unreal the pretzels you will twist yourself into to defend this guy.

Would we be happy if we draft Caleb he has lots of great stats in mostly losing seasons (with 0 playoff wins), and he goes on to win a SB with the Jets in year 12? Is that a “win” for the Bears? Good career? Sure. But we’re looking for a franchise changing quarterback? No?

Your entire argument hinges on it not mattering how few games Justin Fields has won.

If W/L record counts against a QB then Fields absolutely has to go, right?  There’s no argument to keep a QB who is 10-28 or W/L record is a QB stat.

So is it a QB stat or not?

I tend to believe it’s not but am willing to argue based on your take on that if you tell me what it is and stick to it

And you want to credit him for changing the franchise. THREE YEARS LATER. And then followed that up with 4-12.

They went 10-6 year 3 with no playoff wins. Hang a banner. Drafting Stafford #1 overall paid off.

I can just about assure you right now conversations among Dolphin’s higher ups are being had about whether or not Tua is the guy to lead their franchise going forward.

Hope so given the cap hit. Think I heard $50m.

Do you really not see the difference between 12 years of data and 3 (one of which is severely tainted)?

LOL. He can't read a zone D. New guy will figure that out soon enough.

Hilarious. Like Getsy didn't want to throw the ball.

Man, you are in rare form today.
