I fell asleep when it was 7-0 and woke up right before the Bears pissed it away. It was exactly like what the Illini have been doing. Defense just completely melted down when Detroit started playing with urgency. Getsy is pretty far down the list of people to blame when you blow a two score lead late in the 4th.

If I recall properly, but wasn't the second run play of that series before the 2 Min Warning an option play where Fields could have kept that ball if he wanted to? The play before the bomb where Scott stopped running.

I wasn’t aware that Olin Kreutz (among others) was a Fields cultist. There was lots of professional criticism of the play-calling, especially the 2nd to last drive in which they slammed Herbert into a 10 man front twice for one yard.

Wasn't the second run an option where Fields could have kept the ball? I think I noted that contemporaneously during our text exchange.

Plenty of blame to go around. But Getsy is a recurring theme. Guy can’t call plays for shit and gets super conservative when things get tight.

The defense absolutely shit the bed.
