I have never been a huge Ayo fan, but he has learned to work within his limits, only shoot wide open threes, and is really maximizing what he does best in midrange and when there are open lanes.
Passing better, rebounding better, getting to his left better, better crossover, guarding a little bit, and even dunking.
TOs are still an issue, but will take it as part of the other improvements in last few weeks.

I think he gives us a shot to go deep in NCAA as he draws fouls at high rate now even when they know he is coming.
I think he will be in NBA and play.
All credit to the kid.

Ayo has improved a lot as a passer and a ball handler this year, which gives him a shot at the NBA. He still has to improve his shooting some more, but I think he will.

Yeah, one thing you can never say about him is that he isn’t a hard worker. He has worked his ass off to get where he’s at.

Even as an Illini fan I never really quite understood the hype he got until recently. Maybe it was all the hype out of HS expecting a one and done type talent.

Garza kinda the same way. There’s not much wow factor to their respective games then the announcer says they have 25+ points and a pile of other stats and I’m thinking whaaaaat..

Both are great college players that have big NBA question marks although Ayo seems to have worked hard enough to be playing himself into a decent draft window.

I hope Ayo cements his legacy and draft status in the late season and tourney like Deron did, although Ayo’s draft ceiling certainly isn’t that high. Hopefully we can parlay the Ayo and Kofi success stories into some elite replacement recruits.

Yesterday on the Scorat Boar, one of their faceless moderators wrote that Frank Williams, while good, was never "in the same zip code as Ayo."

The rest of the community took turns whipping him.

Prior to this year I would say there was really not much to discuss. Ayo was a pretty nice college scorer with no left hand who couldn't guard.
Ayo has shown a lot more game in last few weeks actually. I believe it was OSU and MD who totally took away his right hand and he had to adjust.
Somewhere in last month he developed both a crossover and the ability to dunk in traffic in games.

His O numbers are quite a bit are better than Frank's across the board. His Royal Frankness was waaaaay better defender on ball and off ball. Better passer. Better ballhandler.
Better BB IQ. Played in an era where college BB was stronger. Frank was just fucking money in crunch time.

Ayo will be a 1st team AA on most lists.
If we make EE I would call it a wash. Otherwise- advantage Frank.

Multiple replies in this thread talking about Ayo being a hard worker.

I'm going to look into the archives to see if I ever hear that said from the cheap seats about Frank

Although I remember the flak Frank took for coasting/dogging, I don’t know much about his work ethic. I think it’s safe to say he was a more naturally gifted basketball player than Ayo.

They both have a lot of natural talent.

Frank was lazy in the same way that Amanda Knox conspired to kill her roommate.

People project their ideas and fantasies onto others. It's not fair, but it happens. And sometimes you spend a year in prison for it.

Wait you don’t think Amanda Knox conspired to kill her roommate?! Yeah, you’re one naive motherfucker. No wonder you never answered my post about OJ. You probably think he’s actually innocent as well 🤯

It feels gross just to be involved in a conversation where someone says Amanda Knox is anything but a victim of idiocy, bad policing and conspiracy trolls on the web.

That said, it wouldn't stun me if you were actually serious.

I was in my first semester of law school when hte OJ case concluded. We were all let out of class to watch it, in the big atrium. All the black students cheered.

OJ had means, motive and opportunity. The LAPD had a history of abhorrent & unlawful treatment of black people; including violence, murder and manufacturing evidence. The lesson of the OJ verdict is that if you want to allow your country to be "policed" by tribalist warriors, you'd better not allow any out-group members on the jury.

And yet here YOU are, spreading conspiracy theories yourself. Seriously can’t make this shit up. Like you legitimately play off your opinions like they’re facts. And then anyone who has a different one than you, you belittle as if they’re somehow beneath you. It’s quite comical actually. The sad part is you have other trolls on this board who side with you.
