Shouldn't be anywhere in the vicinity of a competitive game but we shall see.
Players better be 1000% locked in moving forward after last week's pitiful display.
-
Well, I would expect there will be an extremely high effort level.
-
Epps starting

The staff used the week to get Shannon more involved in the offense. Unfortunately, the free shots are still a problem.
Hawkins is still gun shy and has half of our turnovers.
-
The free shot percentage has picked up a bit
-
I like the offense looking to attack more off wings.
Hawkins is hesitant to shoot because he is showing he is really not a very good shooter.
Shannon is much better being given an angle and some space.
Melendez has a fucked up shoulder.
When does Goode come back??
-

Completely irrelevant. Will never be a factor in any game ever.

Have to get Shannon going down hill. That's when he's at his best.

Quite a shit half. 10 turnovers in the half. If Alabama A&M could make their wide open 3s it’d be a much closer game.
Give me Mizzou 67-63 in the braggin rights game.
I know Mizzou sucks, but this Illini team is soft, dumb, and has no discipline at all. It’s me first park ball.

Go throw some hubcaps at the trailer next door bitch.
-
That Michael Mayer sure can shoot it.
-
Our half court offense is broken. No one knows how to set a solid screen. We look tired and out of it.
-
We don't move well away from the ball.
-
Illinois basketball and long scoring droughts. Name a more iconic duo.
-
This team stinks
-
This is fucking sad. How can you shoot like shit at home?
-
Allowing a 16-2 run at home to Alabama fucking A&M. They didn't learn a thing from last week.
-
😂
I need to jerk off this is hilarious
-
Looking like there were quality practices after the meltdown to Pedo State.
-
😂

They didn't need Kofi
-
Hawkins with the size advantage tries to kick it back out and travels. Guy is afraid to do anything with the ball other than pass it.
-
Illinois probably wins this game by 15 or so but the fact they are capable of being outscored 18-2 to start the 2nd half vs a team as bad as Alabama AM shows just how shitty they are.
LKDog your team is trash
-
We're gonna win but it should have never gotten that dicey to begin with.
-
Thank god for Michael Mayer

Looking like they will cover

You are a total piece of shit Trailer Park man.
It is interesting to hear you are jacking off while you watch the game you sick fuck. No surprise. Probably have your Kofi poster out.

Interesting comments from Mayer
#illini Matthew Mayer: "We got a lot to figure out internally between the players and coaches."
Can't say he's wrong. Didn't think he would be so open about it though.

It’s a collection of pieces that don’t fit together with a collection of coaches who have no grasp of Xs and Os
It’s 3 guys (Mayer, Hawkins, and Shannon) who only cares about showing out for NBA scouts. If Mayer cared about team winning he’d have stayed at Baylor.
And some freshmen that show flashes but nothing great.
And the coach doesn’t have an answer bc “play harder” isn’t the answer
-
We already know you don't watch the games. You admit to just jacking off during the games bcuz you are a sick fuck.
You say same shit every game.
Just STFU or we will report you to your PO.

I don't think Illinois had a single person w/ more assists than turnovers, against Alab A&M

Good call. The box score concurs.
Our starting PG had no assists in 21 minutes.

They better be the "best team in the county".
-
Looking beyond their record, AAMU has been fairly competitive with some half decent low major teams. They have a couple kids that could play in the B1G plus some massive bodies off the bench.
We outscored them 36 - 19 in the first half and 30 - 10 over the last 9 minutes.
-
Leave it to Nichi to try and put lipstick on a pig

Win by 21, everyone acts like they lost and expects half the team to transfer.
-

UW was on BTN saying something about guys being young, learning, and mentally fatigued from finals. I didn't catch all of it.
The team is a work in progress and could be for awhile. No question they have been erratic.
Only one guy in the 9 man rotation has ever been a full time starter, and 4 of them are new to college competition, and Dainja and Melendez have hardly any experience.
So 6 guys semi freaking out at times and learning on the job. The three experienced guys have been inconsistent. They need to be playing consistently well and our three leading possession guys and scorers most nights for us to be good.
I think the half court offense has an identity problem. Hawkins is not a point anything. Today was his 4th game with 5 or more TO's.
His eFG% is only 50% which is fairly mediocre, but especially low for a 6'10" guy. He takes a lot of contested shots and does not get to rim or FT line.
We are asking him to do too much. It's not like we didn't know he has kind of a raw mental game.
They need to lean on Shannon in the half court more IMO right now, and use Hawkins less as the guy they run the offense through, and hope Clark and Epps grow up quickly in their decision making.
Epps looked like a developing stud combo guard vs Texas and has been MIA since. Clark is still tentative. Goes to the rack hard on one play and settles for threes the next several plays.
Next month will start to show if we are going to be a 5 seed or a 10 seed.
-
I have zero doubt they are the best team in the county.
-
Win by 21, everyone acts like they lost and expects half the team to transfer.
Because they got blown out by Penn State the game before.
-
Beginning to come around to the thought that the "angry white guy" routine is not a good look.
-
I only saw bits and pieces of the game so I won't give my review BUT I will be watching the Mizzou game
we have to go on the court and play 40 minutes 100%

we've lost 3
I wanna say right now we are 9-3

Nothing new here since he got here. He is what he is. Huggy Bear school. A very hard out when they play hard, but never much of a tactical battle for teams to worry about.
I think I read on Loyalty postgame thread where they were all debating the team culture and someone said that UW had a required anger management class at some point?
-
We are an extremely young team and we went from being one of the oldest to one of the youngest. A ton of potential talent from this squad but all I know is that we probably wouldn't win 14 games if not for doing well in the transfer portal and getting shannon and meyer. Need these seniors to carry us to say the least.
It is what it is and you can clearly see it on the floor. January will be very telling, thankfully under BU we typically have improved throughout the year and don't have to worry about January John syndrome where we play well early non conference and regress over the next 20 games. I do not think we will win the big ten but will finish a little over 500 in conference play which should be enough to get us to dance this year.

Got the gist on
Mike [Matt] Mayer situation. He has had some issues with chronic back problems flaring up. Says this has plagued him throughout his career. Anyway, the body language and grimacing earlier was perhaps back pain?
He and Brad Uberwood have disagreed on how to approach it. BU seems to think some of it is mental. Maybe a bit old school, tough it out? MM has been dieting and fasting and thinks that is why he is doing better.
-
Another one, fwig, before the game, some reporter asked Hawkins about Brad yelling. Keep in mind Hawkins personality. He is like a fun loving kid, likes to joke around. He quipped that the team just tunes him out.
Piper took that and MM post game antics to infer there must be some deep internal division. This is not the first time Piper tried to stir up poop.
...
Not sure about BU and anger management classes. I know the AD did tell him to tone down the act, looks bad in front of the camera.
BU's offense and defense are different, but his sideline demeanor, regular season success, and post season mediocrity reminds me of a former PU HC.
..
Hawkins has worse contact avoidance than Mike Davis. He is also afraid to shoot, and will make a bad pass instead.

Is that why he hasn’t done any more Austin Powers movies?
Just busting your balls.
-
Hahahaha Jones fumbles on end around. That guy sucks. I said as much the day he was drafted. Put that one in the loss column for Poles. SMH.
The guy never had the profile of an NFL receiver (production wise). One decent year in six means you suck. Regardless of the “traits.”

Kenpom, as an overall rating, is almost as worthless as the "win probability" stat.
However, I will say that some of the metrics within Kenpom are interesting. Not sure they are credible, but they are interesting.
-
Wisconsin is ranked 17th and they are kind of terrible.
I am sure they will win 10 or 11 games in the annual BT shitfest, but they are torture to watch.
Purdue almost got beat by Davidson at home and shot 32% and 3/25 from 3. Fire Painter. I hear they all hate each other too.

I really like it. When you break down the team metrics you can really assess team strengths and weaknesses. Individual game probability is not perfect for sure, but over a period of time- it is pretty valid IMO.

KenPom is pretty damned good overall once a decent amount of season has played out. Torvik may be better.

Not sure if you are being intentionally obtuse, but I found a link that presents a similar view.

Of course, if you are determined to keep your current viewpoint, you'll pretend to have read that and then disagree with it.

The team-to-team ratings are interesting. However, later in the season, when someone breathlessly proclaims: "We're 296th nationally in giving up points on out-of-bounds plays, and WE NEED TO FIX IT!!!!" then it's time for a Major Dork Alert.
Later this week, when the major snowstorm hits, I might check out a few KenPomPom numbers to see where things stand.

Ever seen a number come up 3x in a row on a roulette wheel? It happens.
-
Ever seen a number come up 3x in a row on a roulette wheel? It happens.
Not very often. There are 38 numbers on the standard roulette wheel, so the probability is (1/38)^3, or 0.00001822.
If you read the link I provided, there are NBA teams given a 90-plus percent "win probability" with a double-digit lead halfway through the 3rd quarter. That makes no sense.
I cited the example of Ravens-Bears last year. The Ravens literally had the ball inside the 25, needing a TD to take the lead, and yet the Bears' "win probability" was still at a ridiculous number.
Garbage stat cited by a garbage network.

You became triggered over it.
Sounds like someone has had a few bad weekends betting NFL football.
