Win by 21, everyone acts like they lost and expects half the team to transfer.
UW was on BTN saying something about guys being young, learning, and mentally fatigued from finals. I didn't catch all of it.
The team is a work in progress and could be for awhile. No question they have been erratic.
Only one guy in the 9 man rotation has ever been a full time starter, and 4 of them are new to college competition, and Dainja and Melendez have hardly any experience.
So 6 guys semi freaking out at times and learning on the job. The three experienced guys have been inconsistent. They need to be playing consistently well and our three leading possession guys and scorers most nights for us to be good.
I think the half court offense has an identity problem. Hawkins is not a point anything. Today was his 4th game with 5 or more TO's.
His eFG% is only 50% which is fairly mediocre, but especially low for a 6'10" guy. He takes a lot of contested shots and does not get to rim or FT line.
We are asking him to do too much. It's not like we didn't know he has kind of a raw mental game.
They need to lean on Shannon in the half court more IMO right now, and use Hawkins less as the guy they run the offense through, and hope Clark and Epps grow up quickly in their decision making.
Epps looked like a developing stud combo guard vs Texas and has been MIA since. Clark is still tentative. Goes to the rack hard on one play and settles for threes the next several plays.
Next month will start to show if we are going to be a 5 seed or a 10 seed.
