Kirby Smart is right. The bowl system/college football is broken. Transfers, transfer portal, and opt outs, have become insane and is ruining it.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39212869/kirby-smart-laments-fsu-opt-outs-georgia-orange-bowl-rout

It was already borderline unwatchable. Not even sure what to call it now. An abomination?

Again, can’t understand why anyone would want to watch non-playoff football. If a team is any good, the best 3-5 players are probably sitting out.

Watching the non-playoff bowls is the same as watching pro games like the Falcon v. the Bear.

I think ratings and money prove that wrong.

Hasn’t signed with an agent (so can return) but he declared. Add another QB to the pool…

I would agree. College football is currently sacrificing long-term demand in favor of meeting short-term demands, and has been for some time. NIL is a really great thing on the whole but you need to encourage long-term deals on both the scholarship and NIL side. It's ridiculous to try and run a sports league with one-year free agency and that's what college football is essentially doing right now.

College football only works when fans are willing to invest in season tickets and then traveling to see an 8-4 team in the Gator Bowl. I'm not sure the current game will maintain that aside from the 15 or so programs that benefit from having a national pro league.

If you think the Mizzou/OSU game is superior entertainment to the NFL you’re nuts.

It was on par with the Falcon Bear game. Falcon were not even interested in being in Chicago and were still in the game for at least a half.

Of course. Only reason the Bears won, I’m sure.
