Saw that Dino Babers got fired. I remember the butthurt on old HQ when he was the one who got away.
Official winner of the HQ Tallest Midget award. Thanks, Jobu!

Well he probably would have been an upgrade from Beckman but yeah....

Good for him also. Getting away from the demands of being HC at a Power 5 school appears to  have been good for him health wise.
Their last 5 games are wins..
at UTEP
at LaTech
Middle Tn
at W Ky
and the best, at Auburn.

All of those schools have had some decent teams over the years.

I took my son to the La Tech game in 2012. It was a Saturday night, beautiful weather. La Tech blasted us 52-24.

That La Tech was good.  I think they had one of the best offenses in the nation that year.  Averaging over 50 points per game or something.  I also remember them getting fucked out of a bowl game.  But they won me a boat load of $$$ against Virginia that year.

From the Wiki, some good stuff on LaTech. Including Illinois losing to Skip Holtz in the 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl.

And on a couple of former LaTech QBs ...
"Lambright also coached quarterback Terry Bradshaw. Initially, Bradshaw was second on the depth chart at quarterback behind Phil Robertson, who would later become famous as the inventor of the Duck Commander duck call and television personality on the A&E program Duck Dynasty.[14][15] Bradshaw caused a media frenzy on account of his reputation of being a football sensation from nearby Shreveport.[16][17] Robertson was a year ahead of Bradshaw and was the starter for two seasons in 1966 and 1967, and chose not to play in 1968.[18] As Robertson put it: "I'm going for the ducks, you [Terry] can go for the bucks."[19]"

The duck hunting worked out ok for Phil.

One of those Tim Beckman head scratchers.

I remember that night. I played 18 at Ruffled Feathers in Lemont with two buddies and we went to eat at a brewpub place across the way. We ordered at kickoff and it seemed like we were down three touchdowns by the time we got our meals.

Yeah, lol I didn't know that at the time. I had access to free tickets, so I figured I would take my son to see a game the Illini should win. I mean hell, it's La Tech.

Yeah, that didn't age well. My son got his first taste of the shitty atmosphere in that place when things go south.

Yeah, they shoved it up their asses in a hurry. I remember thinking, my God, what the fuck is this.

We were in the horseshoe. La Tech was coming towards us on offense in the first quarter. We saw a lot of action up close lol

Surprised you didn’t know this.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.
