Now if they bite the bullet on Getsy they are stuck either having to change systems or finding someone very well schooled in the system, which limits your choices and talent pool.

Looks like you were ahead of the curve while Tempo had crashed behind the curve, ala MiniDitka's artist rendition, on this one.

We are one game into the rebuild and they are not rebuilt! Trash!

You’d have made a terrible wartime officer.

I think it’s concerning that they came out at home against a rival that’s replacing one of the GOATs and completely laid an egg. And looked like uncoached hot garbage doing so.

Oh, it raises some red flags for sure. I think the #1 thing we learned is probably that Getsy is overmatched. Secondly, I don’t know if Flus was told to run a country club training camp, but they clearly didn’t make the most of it.

My hope is what happened is quickly correctable and they come out and knock off Tampa on the road. If they take another bad loss we’ll know we have a pretty serious problem. Again, they are one game into the rebuild. We should learn a lot in the next month.

I’ll wait until this year to start making strong judgments. I’m not going to come to strong conclusions during, and on the back of one season in which they purposely stripped the roster down and led the league by a wide margin in dead cap space.

But that raises even more red flags. Who hired Getsy who is so clearly overmatched? Who told Flus to run a country club training camp and completely ineffectual preseason slate? The entire organization just exudes incompetence.

I get that a true fan has to have hope and try to find some “green shoots” so to speak. But man look at what the Packers do year after year (in a small market) compared to the Bears. It’s absolutely embarrassing. They’re all playing by the same rules, but somehow the Bears manage to fuck it all up decade after decade.

Ok, ok. It’s easy to score points when bagging on the Bears. I used to to do it on Illini athletics. But this is a new regime. I know, I know “McCaskeys…” I think with each leadership change the McCaskeys become less and less involved. It’s possible their frugalness made them go with a rookie coach, and rookie OCs. But I’d be speculating. I don’t know that.

Again, I like Poles’ vision. He’s stepped on a few landmines so far, but literally every GM has misses. The rebuild is not going perfectly by any means, but I do think the approach is solid. He still has a lot of FA money and draft capital. My main concern at this point is will the coaching staff unravel, because they’ve had a wretched few weeks.

As far as the misses, the bright side is that none of the misses are players they’ve super heavily invested in. If Tremaine Edmonds busts, that’s a problem. Nate Davis and Lucas Patrick are complimentary players, not necessarily building blocks.

Davis and Patrick are OL. I don't see how they are "complimentary" players.

None of them are paid to be top 5 players at their position. Or even top 10. They are expected to be useful, but aren’t difference makers. And weren’t signed to be. They were brought in to be competent.

Aaron Donald, Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp. Those are championship “building blocks.”

Well, if that is how you define things, there is literally no one on this team who are "championship building blocks." Don't tell me DJ Moore is because he can be wide open from Soldier Field to Indiana and the QB won't throw the ball to him.
