The “optimistic” view is based on hope. It’s not rooted in really anything as a passer yet. It’s like saying you’re “optimistic” about a QB that hasn’t show really anything yet in the way of passing the ball consistently. It’s based on what you “hope” he does. If anything, what he’s shown in the passing game should honestly be discouraging and pessimistic. Why not just be patient and see what happens.
People were optimistic with about every single QB that’s been drafted in the first round in the history of football. We see how that’s turned out. He hasn’t really proven anything yet in the QB passing department honestly.
I’ve seen enough “wow” moments even as a passer to think it can get better. Sure, we’d all like to see more consistency. He’s still relatively inexperienced. Young QBs struggling with timing and accuracy isn’t exactly an anomaly.
Again, I’d take him for sure over some other starters simply because of the explosiveness of his game. And I know he’ll be working to get better, not playing Call of Duty.
