I drive by this regularly. A few miles from Quad Cities. Have never stopped there in like 40 years. I have always heard there are hookers hanging out. It's like a small city.
I worked there in the early 90's for about 10 months. You'd see the occasional trucker roll in with some skank hanging on him, but the owners tried hard to make it more of a family atmosphere. It's not like you see hookers walking around from truck to truck, although I'm sure it happens. The more alarming thing was seeing these drivers (not many, but still) come in on speed doing their Corey Hart imitation.
It's really quite impressive, as far as truckstops go. Clean. Back in the day, they'd have a chiro, dentist, showers, family restaurant, fast food, huge chrome shop, truck wash, service center, etc. It's massive. It was a learning experience as to how much shit costs. That's an expensive industry.
