Here's one.
My sister is doing a remodel in West Lafayette, because you know, the Murphy's are real estate barons.
Anyway, the remodel is getting punked because they can't just put good, solid, modern siding and windows onto the house. You see, the neighborhood - which is basically right off campus and has a bunch of ramshackle homes that are all hodge podged together and don't have a lot of money piled into them because for the most part are student rentals - was declared "historic" so any repairs have to match the "historic" nature of the neighborhood.
Regulation! Big Government!
Who lobbied for those regulations? The chair of the Tippecanoe County GOP. Who doesn't even live in the neighborhood.
Everything is hypocrisy, we should just get over it already. It's pathetic - in this case "historic" means "we hadn't invented better shit yet, the people who built these houses would have killed for modern plumbing"
