Here's a good one.
A local pol, City Councilwoman running for County Supervisor hatched an amusing plan. Had a bunch of people write letters to the Editor of the Press Democrat in support of her.
Then she sent out a snail mail flyer with quotes from all those letters. The top heading of the flyer had the Press Democrat logo. Then a series of quotes - with no attribution to the letter writer. Reads as if it's a bunch of pulls from an endorsement by the paper.
But the Press Democrat endorsed one of her opponents.
I know this person IRL - so I've gotten the various asks for donations - "I'm in the fight of my life for the future of Northern California!" Wut? She's running in a jungle primary where the top 2 vote getters are certain to be Democrats, who will vote pretty much identically and none of whom have a particularly distinctive policy agenda. For the most part, nobody will have a differential in their life based on who wins - the only notable difference would be how well that person does their job in PR when there is a natural disaster.
Goes to show, as this forum well knows, it's all about the most non-partisan issue of them all - the Benjamins.
