I understand why Judy and other small town rednecks assume that everyone has a photo ID (and even one that would satisfy a poll watcher).
But I'm the executor of an estate in which the decedent had no valid photo ID. The only recent photo ID was a transit card, which makes sense if you live in a city.
Bumpkins get everywhere in their pick-up trucks. So naturally they carry a driver's license. Solipsism leads them to believe all normal people have one.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that people should prove their identity before voting. But the fact is that they do. I've never shown an ID, but my signature matches, and they look.
Funnily enough, the Republican establishment of Champaign County never bothered to purge the dead from its voter rolls. I've seen them. Lots of dead people.
The GOP held both the Coroner's office and the County Clerkship for decades. For some reason, they never removed those dead, erstwhile elderly white reliably Republican voters from the rolls. Weird, huh?
