Joe acted kind of weird at times when he was VP, but he was not incompetent. That seems to have been a more recent development. Also, there might have been some Bob Dole syndrome. Dole was very good in person, not good on TV.
Reagan, W, and Trump picked VPs that were more qualified for the job than themselves, just not good candidates.
Gore was a competent VP, but his annoying personality made him a weak candidate. He should have won easily running on Clinton's economic record against a guy who presented as a likeable idiot.
Just wonder how someone like Harris, Palin, or Quayle could slip through a vetting process. Or Perot's pick, Stockdale.
I was thinking the same way a guy like Tim Beckman even gets considered here, but I think that was more because nobody else would work for the AD.
