The problem is you think keeping a quarterback on the pocket keeps him “safe.” I’m not sure there’s any evidence injuries are more or less likely with running quarterbacks. It probably takes some time off the careers, but quarterbacks get hurt in and out of the pocket. But yeah, you don’t want your QB running 17x in one game.

No one said it keeps them "safe." It is about taking hits in the open field and their cumulative effect. Cam Newton's right shoulder says, "Hello."

You missed my point. He was used like a goal line back. Not the same kind of running as Fields does.  I didn’t say he couldn’t play quarterback.

You have a very whimsical way of viewing things is my point. You actually blamed Garoppolo getting hurt on the the fact that he tried to escape the tackler. Do you know how quickly a quarterback will lose the lockerroom if he rolls over like a fish every times he’s pressured?

It’s football. QBs get hurt running, or in the pocket. Stafford got hurt in the pocket today.

Yes, we all know that. You fail to grasp that running in the open field enables guys to take more shots, and more shots with guys running at a high speed. That wears on quarterbacks who are not built to take those shots.
