I read Sparky’s 4 poster scout board, and Peoriaman said just last week that there was a 90% chance RayJ was coming.
Now he says Illinois lost him.
Again, all these people do is cling to the most optimistic scenarios regardless of the chances with no info, then when it doesn’t happen they claim recruiting is fluid.
Rather than just be honest from the get go.
I know the message of “illinois sucks, Underwood has constant turnover, why would anyone come here” is a message not many people want to here, but it’s the truth. And once you go from that viewpoint, it’s easy to see where these recruitments will go.
There’s better programs after Dennis.
Shannon is a top 40 pick.
Hawkins reading his quotes has always wanted to get to the NBA fast and was disappointed in not getting some of the transfers he wanted IL to get.
Put it all together and IL gets none of these guys back. IL is only attractive for guys looking for expanded roles or a jump in competition if they have no better options. That doesn’t fit any of these guys.
Remember Michigan was Shannon’s first choice.
And sure IL can recruit some me first Mayer types but they suck.
It’s a mediocre program. That’s just it. And even the best players that come here don’t stay very long (Epps, Podz, Miller).
