Darnold retrieved a 2nd, 4th, and 6th and everyone knew he was broken, Dumbfucknic.

2nd, 4th, and 6th isn’t a 1st.

And people know Fields is broke.  He’s 5-20 as a starter.  It doesn’t get any more broken than that.

Probably Oklahoma has produced the best quarterbacks. So just draft whoever their quarterback is in the 1st round, amirite? Better hope you’re getting Troy Aikman instead of Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield or Kyler Murray…

All 4 are better than Fields.

It’s a hell of a lot more than nothing. And a hell of a lot more than a 5th.

You are so fucking stupid. You HAVE to be trolling. Tell me you understand that the Bears were one of the 2-3 least talented teams last, and that Poles clearly was tearing the roster down so he could rebuild it. You cannot be this dumb.

Oh, and again, Troy Aikman was 7-19 his first two years. Or that that “considerably better than 5-20?” When Fields literally had what was left of the talent sent packing.

It’s pretty unbelievable to me that people could look at that roster, which Poles was clearly dismantling on purpose and think that “winning games” was a reasonable expectation for a 2nd year quarterback learning a new system.

This roster had already showed how mediocre they were before they started shipping what was left of their best players off.

No. I look at college statss for what they are. That someone was actually a good (or bad) passer on advanced level. I don’t think great college passing automatically translates to good or great NFL passing. But it’s a check in the box.
Tempo, what do you think about this?

If there is a question without an answer, is it how do you guarantee if a college QB will be good in the NFL?

I don't see what stats can tell you. Talking last 10 years, we know the tOSU has not generated any QBs so far (and neither did Spurrier). Hurts came out of OK, but, was at Alabama first and we know why he left AL and the OK guys appear to be systems guys. USC? They had a run of guys, right, that were busts. Was Carson Palmer ok until he got hurt?

The GOAT didn't get to play until Drew Bledsoe got hurt, right?

Some people say he’s Drew Brees with mobility.

And what made Drew Brees good? Could anticipate guys getting open and make throws before they were actually open? Read defenses?

The issue is that he has looked bad at basic passing. He has not shown that he can make throws where he anticipates guys getting open when the ball is to arrive. He has held the ball too long.

I’m not really sure what your point was, but I’d say that points to the randomness of evaluating and the very overlooked DEVELOPING of quarterbacks. And I think you’re arguing your case @ tOSU quarterbacks. Seems like there’s no infallible secret sauce. Especially when someone isn’t a can’t miss like Peyton Manning, of which there are very few. Would Mahomes be Mahomes if he went to the Bears? Probably still good, but probably not what he is currently.

The point is even the experts don't know shit. But, I think, we can extrapolate a few things, here and there, based on college programs over time. One is that OSU coaches have done a shit job developing NFL ready QBs. We can say the same about OK and USC coaches. What does that say about a guy like Caleb Williams? Is Lincoln Riley just a systems guy? We will find out.

No one knew Brady would be The GOAT. Not even Belichick.

Did everyone overlook Brock Purdy? Or is Shanahan just a systems guy? I have no clue.
(And the 49er even picked Trey Lance! So they are not infallible. )

Good question re Mahomes.

If you remember,  there was a debate at the time Leaf versus Payton Manning as the 1st pick...

It looks like it is all a crap shoot.

Shanahan is definitely a system guy. A quarterback friendly system guy. That’s why he consistently gets guys to produce at the position. As you say, it’s a crapshoot, so I don’t know why I’d let failed quarterbacks from 10-30 years ago influence my thought process if I was a scout or GM.

Because there are some things that have been consistent over the past decade, no?

The Bears have a bad QB and a bad roster.  That’s why they were the worst team in the NFL last year.

15 Teams (QB) who would definitely not trade their current QB for Fields:

Mahomes
Burrow
Allen
Rodgers
Hurts
Jackson
Watson
Stafford
Goff
Purdy
Herbert
Cousins
Tua
Lawrence
Prescott

7 teams (QB) who probably wouldn’t:

Daniel Jones
Kyler Murray
Mac Jones
Russell Wilson
Ryan Tannehill
Baker Mayfield
Kenny Pickett

So again, at best Justin Fields is a bottom 7 or 8 QB in the league

I just named 22 other QBs he wouldn’t start over. And that doesn’t include this years draft of several
guys who are better

In order to trigger Tempo the most, I want the Bears to draft Stetson Bennett.

I think Bennett is the perfect backup QB.  He’s used to being a backup that overcame all odds to go from walk-on to starter for 2 national title teams.  And it’s be a nice kick n the ass to Fields. When you got Peterman behind you, there’s no incentive to improve.  Stetson would be perfect in that role at an affordable draft pick
