No I was writing off guys like Sam Darnold.

Nobody is trading a 1st round pick for Sam Darnold.  Neither Trubisky.  Neither Mayfield.

Great QBs elevate the team.  Fields doesn’t.  Darnold didn’t.  Trubisky didn’t. Mayfield did early in his career at least.

They weren’t competitive in most games.  Played from far behind which let Fields work against soft prevent defense, and even in that situation his stats were bad.

I’ll make a prediction.

Kenny Pickett will win more NFL games than Fields does.

Never mind I googled it. That’s an extremely good contract and he’s locked up for the next two years with a 5th-year option if we need. Build around him like they are. This season will tell a lot, but if he flops this year and we have a chance to get Caleb Williams I’m all for it. Otherwise if he shows progression, you keep him another year after this one.
