I do feel like he should have played more. Not sure why they sat him game 2. Would have been nice to see a couple more series today. I’m guessing there’s some rust since no one’s played (starters). But that is the modern NFL. I remember watching week 3 last year and across the league it still looked like preseason.

Looking forward to regular season play. Anyone expecting Fields to come out and throw for 350/4 week one may come out disappointed. I expect the offense to continue to be a work in progress. Especially with injuries. But I do think they’ll be explosive plays and that’s something we’ve rarely said about a Bears offense.

I hope Fields comes out and looks like league MVP week one, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t (yes, I know what I did there).

I do think the offense will look better once Fields is able to improvise (yes, likely run) more. It’ll loosen things up. I’m guessing Fields running wasn’t a big part of camp and preseason.

Hopefully Fields takes a jump and gets into the MVP conversation. I’m still fairly optimistic. Not going to make too much out of a couple series behind a patchwork line in a preseason that saw him play probably 20 plays.

Fields is already being bet up as MVP, right?

The defense has not looked good. That is concerning, but hopefully it is because the D has been vanilla.

I am guessing this is going to look like the end of last year. Fields makes plays with his legs and throws bombs, but is uneven in the pocket. While Fields and the O puts up points on big plays, the D has problems getting off the field. If Fields gets hurt for an extended amount of time, watch out below.

I don’t know what this “means.”

My bad. First read it as “set up.” To answer the question, IDK

I’ve never really concerned myself with what happens in the preseason. If they look good, great. If they don’t look good, it doesn’t count anyway. Let’s just use Fields for example: he played what? 20-25 snaps in preseason? And half of that behind a patchwork line. I’m going to guess the offense is somewhere between going 60+ yards every other play and back to back 3 and outs.

I think the offense will be pretty productive (provided they can stay/get healthy). I expect things will not necessarily be smooth from game one on. I’m just glad Fields and the offense got some live reps in. I’ve always felt live reps were important for maturing players heading into the regular season.

WTF is up with Nate Davis? That guy has barely done shit since the day he signed.

Damn, just realized we’re still two weeks from starting the regular season. Ugh.

Uh, yeah. Ergo my concerns about his lack of teps....

Yeah, but you seem hung up on “learning and tape.” I just want him to get accustomed to live speed reps. To me that’s what preseason is for.

It is all the same bundle of sticks....

Sort of. But at this point in the preseason, I am almost exclusively concerned with the offenses’ timing and rhythm. Much less concerned about “what Justin learned” from the Buffalo game.

Just as I wouldn’t want a promising young prospect to go into the regular MLB season having only faced batting practice pitching. To me, the last couple of weeks were about getting used to game speed again.
