I think there is a reasonable expectation that the Bears are the most improved team in the NFL next year (or over next two years). Meaning I hope and half expect to be playing in a playoff game which will probably be in Philadelphia sooner rather than a lot later.

PAMan signal has been lit...
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Yes, but you can only make a trade with teams also that want to make the trade

Again, they could've not made the trade.  The result is the Eagles still get Carter, and the Bears have one less pick next year.

Or...................there could have been other influences. Such as a determination to get Darnell Wright. The point is, unless we were in the room we don't know what went down for sure. Sure, we can surmise. But that doesn't automatically mean that guess is correct.

One of us is using a guess as to what MIGHT HAVE happened with no evidence as a means to whine about a pretty darn good first round move.

The other is talking about what actually occurred.

You can fantasize about some shitty NFC team coming in and offering more for Carter all you want.  That obviously did not happen.

Again. I think Carter makes an enticing piece of trade bait, particularly if packaged with other picks or players. Tampa is probably looking to shed some money as they are clearly going to be rebuilding. Could Carter and a 3rd rounder get you Mike Evans? IDK. But again, the worst case scenario is you have a guy who many say is the best player in the draft at your most important position that isn't quarterback.

BTW, Tampa drafted an undersized 3 tech in the 1st.

Would you really feel better about this if the Bears had traded the 9 pick to a different team, with a lower first this year where they risk not getting the guy they actually want and a worse pick next year?

I can't imagine that'd have changed the magnitude of the whining.

Your entire point is based on the notion, based on literally no evidence at all, that Poles probably just didn't even try to get the best deal he could for the pick.

It's lunacy.

Is the implication of your edit that Tampa offered the Bears a better deal for the pick and they passed for no reason?

Do you not understand how ridiculous you sound here?

Ignoring that we have no idea if the Bucs wanted Carter at all.

Says the guy who seems incapable of layered thought.

This is great.

Need to make room in the sig for this one.

Meme away, MemeMan.

As you are showing us here, you are the King of Layered Thought, with 50% more nuance!

The point is you’re drawing definite conclusions from information you don’t have. You’re going strictly by what is known by the outsider. You may, or may not be right. Jesus.

No. Jesus…

Why mention that the Bucs took a D Lineman then?  What point were you making?
