I don't think it's 'unimportant', but I think it's typically a pretty deep position, and more reliant than some other skill positions on a 5-person unit in front of them being solid.  And I don't think the Bears really need a running back that badly, either.  Didn't they just sign Foreman?

I’m not surprised the Bears traded out of Carter. I am surprised they did it for next to nothing.

Foreman is a journeyman. As Herbert will be. They don’t have a good receiving back outside of their #3. I wanted an explosive relief valve for Fields.

They could've just taken their guy and let the Eagles take Carter for nothing, but obviously that's worse.

I'd imagine if another team was willing to offer more to take Carter, they would've.
