Oh hey we're live again!

Well that game sucked. We should know by now that doing thing we suck at the most over and over again with little success is not a formula for winning games. We want to be a three point shooting team that sucks at shooting them.

I was thinking it was my ranting during the tOSU game that shut the site down, but it was odd that nobody logged on the whole game.

Jay Wright explained bringing TSJ in. If we didn't get a stop in play, TSJ wouldn't be able to come in. I wasn't paying attention to our time out or foul situation, but it sounded good.

Jay Wright: Illinois shoots a lot of 3s, but it's not the percentage that matters. If you make 10, that's 30 points.
What if you go 1-14 in the 2nd half ? Lol.

This theory is badly flawed. First, percentage certainly matters. Second, missed 3s generally lead to longer rebounds that give the other team an advantage in setting up an offense before the D can set up.

Third, Illinois often guns 3s without making many passes, or even considering strategy. At the end of the half at Columbus, Mayer gunned a 3 when the team should have been holding for the last shot.

That is oversimplified, because two point shots also draw more fouls. Also, going inside out improves the 3 point percentage. In addition, bad missed threes create transition offense for the opponent.

Controlling tempo works if you're making 3s and is a lot easier to do getting 2s and drawing fouls.
True, missed 3s too often lead to long rebounds and run-outs for the other team. Missed 3s also mean you don't get back to set up defense.
Underwood's teams look best when the defense is solid.
