On a hold, whether the pass is catchable or not is irrelevant.

The hold of the jersey apparently altered Smith's route. Was supposed to go in the flat and instead turned up field. Betting the call would not have been made if the throw had been to the other side of the field.

So the defense should just hold all the receivers, then any pass would be uncatchable, so no call?
