Sometimes I wonder if people buy into the idea that because 3-point baskets are worth more than 2-point baskets, it's OK to miss a lot of 3s. All that does is lead to a bunch of empty trips down the court.

Also, have I mentioned that Hawkins and Dainja should just hold the ball and wait for someone else, preferably another Illinois player, to come and take it?

Shooting 33% from 3 is roughly equivalent to shooting 50% from 2. Except I think it's more complicated.

Yes, missed threes can lead to empty possessions. Or worse, long rebounds; which can result in transition offense for the other team.

Exactly. The team falls into that trap a lot. Along with many other traps.

I will say one positive from the game was that with the ditching of the stupid switching defense, they held Northwestern (yeah I know a shitty shooting team)  to 32% from the field... they do however have to work on their free throw defense since NU shot 80% on 40 fucking attempts
