My impression is the FBI was also briefing Fox News, National Review, Wall Street Journal, AP, CBS, ABC, NBC, WaPo, NYT, and so on about the potential for a repeat of 2016. It is widely reported that the Hunter Biden story peddled by Guilliani did not even meet the journalistic standards of Fox. So the Trump's team effort to sway the election with unverified material from copies of a hard drive  that surfaced in October before the election failed, so the right is pixxed  and blames left leaning social media. Even though NY post, Drudge, and other right wing media aired the story.
