Wouldn't more people actually see the article mentioned on The Drudge Report? Maybe I'm projecting, as that is where I saw it linked at the time.
What happened is more important than why didn't this happen instead.

Well, there seems to be an issue of what actually happened. That the Feds were running interference to kill THIS story by going only to the tech companies does not make much sense. The Feds would need to go to the media companies that would be the ones actually reporting the story. If that had occured, that would have gotten out and been reported on as well given that Trump's battles with the FBI was virtually a daily story.

All I know is that Twitter's Head of Site Integrity said they were warned of hack and leak possibilities and that one would probably occur in Oct 2020 and that there were rumours that a hack and leak may involve Hunter Biden.

Tl/dr, but I've probably seen most of it anyway.
There is plenty that nobody has seen. There may or may not be evidence of governmental interference.
Nonetheless, the FBI had the laptop for close to a year and when they found out the story was coming out 3 weeks before a Presidential election, they referred to it as hacked material.
In reaching the decision on how to handle it, Twitter relied on what they had been told. Within hours, the 'hacked' material determination was being questioned internally.

Paragraph 11 reads they had been meeting with the feds "weekly" and there were discussions throughout 2020. Also lays out that it was expected that in October something would happen (makes sense with a November election). But it does not specify which candidate. It also does not say when he heard the rumors about a Biden hack and leak. Hard to tell if everything in that paragraph  just relates to Biden or if there were rumors about other candidate family members being hacked as well. Would be interesting to know if the discussions were broader, and if others were mentioned, or if it was all just Biden related.
