Tempo, the draft thread is somehow locked.

To answer your question, my comment re the Lawrence draft being a one man draft (after JFC was said to be the 2d pick if the draft had been done again) brought the wrath of Spark, which degenerated into psycho analysis between the 3 of us with Jobu claiming he was staying out of it before there were kumbaya moments.

Haha, that's a pretty good summary of whatever the fuck that was the other night.

If JFC is the second best player in that draft, that draft sucks ass.

But yet you “expect” him to pull it together and lead the Bears to the Super Bowl. You sound like a totally reasonable person.

If you're judging a quarterback on his first 25 starts you're an idiot.  And even more, if you watched last year and don't see why people are high on Fields, you weren't watching very closely.

I bet even Tempo will agree with me this time.

He somehow has a very difficult time remembering all the way back as far as 2021, and 2019 when Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen weren’t thought of as “good passers.”

It didn’t “look” exactly like PAMan expects it to, therefore he “sucks.” Even if Fields never improves much as a passer, I think he’s shown he can at least be a viable starter in the NFL as long as his athleticism allows him to make plays. He was basically the best running quarterback we’ve ever seen last year. Better than even Lamar and Vick.

Made some splash plays as a passer, but obviously would like to see him be more consistent and polished through the air. Hopefully he’ll make a nice jump as a passer now that there is significantly more NFL talent around him. Wonder if Lamar would have been MVP if he’d had a bad line, rookie coaches, a WR room led by Byron Pringle, all while learning a new offense.

I saw a puff quote from Eberflus today about how impressed he's been with Fields' improvement in the short and medium passing games - that oughta make PAMan feel better.

Joe Burrow out there making things look easy basically elevating his team in a way we’ve never really seen from a 24 year old quarterback has really skewed “expectations.”

Trevor Lawrence looked pretty close to a bust the first half of last year. He looked a lot more like the guy they drafted him to be the 2nd half of the season, though.

Yet, the people redoing the draft and claiming he should have been the second pick are doing exactly what you are counseling me against.

Maybe in 5 years things will look different. Right now, no, he does not look like he should have been the 2d pick in any draft unless it was a draft of HQ2 posters.

He’d have been better off holding a clipboard next to Getsy.

Yes, it marginally does.

If Getsy knows what he is going, yes. Worked for Aaron Rodgers.

You’ve been watching it for most of your 57 years (or whatever it is). What we saw last year was better than 90% of it.

Rodgers was great long before Luke Getsy became their quarterback coach (not even OC). Rodgers in 2010 (I think it was) was as good as any year I’d seen a QB have. Should we credit Getsy for that?
