I’d say this is pretty spot on. I’m not sure that Custard, Judy, and Mn *know* that Biden beat Trump, though.

And for the record, in 2016 Bernie won Michigan and Wisconsin and I think Missouri, and narrowly lost Illinois. Yes, his support was strongest in “whiter” states, but if he’s the Democratic nominee, Democratic voters are voting for him. Period.

The bottom line is the Democratic Machine was just too strong for one person to take out. Bernie didn’t lose because he “wasn’t a Democrat,” he lost because the game is rigged. We’ve seen no better proof than the last 10 years.

Bernie made a few tactical errors. The debate after Covid broke out, was a huge gaffe IMO. Instead of making a passionate case for universal healthcare, Bernie stuck with his normal routine and seemed to say the word “billionaire” every other word. Not that he was wrong (as we see in 2026 as preposterous as it sounds Bernie might have undersold the danger of billionaires), but that was a time to really emphasize his platform and instead stuck with “it’s the oligarchy, stupid!”

Murph brings up a great point; which Democrat didn’t drop out? The one that he competed most with for voters. I’m sure it would have happened anyway, but Bernie shouldn’t have antagonized the “establishment” by saying “we’re coming after you.”

Bernie Sanders has been the most popular politician in America for 11 years running (alive and also serving). It’s absurd to say he doesn’t appeal to voting masses.

It’s too bad that Biden didn’t listen to Obama when Obama told him “Joe, you don’t have to do this (run).” But Joe’s massive ego told him he had to run. Only Trump has a bigger ego than Joe Biden.
