As Alum pointed out, this scenario has played out before. It's history repeating itself. Humans are capable of kindness, compassion, generosity, equanimity, and tolerance. Or enmity, cruelty, envy, fear, and bigotry. We get to decide to be part of the problem or not.

We need more border patrol agents, more immigration courts and more  immigration judges. We need to decriminalize simple unlawful entry. We need permanent lawful guest worker programs so crossing a border to go to work at legitimate jobs isn't unlawful.

We need to grant amnesty or whatever it's called to the dreamers.

Do something to clear out the back log of cases Trump caused.

Work on reducing the  demand that feeds the cartels

Law enforcement at the border  should focus on drug, weapons, and human trafficking..
