He reminds me of Jimmy Garappolo.  He’s a good enough QB to not lose you the game.


But I think the key to Illinois is the line play.  The offensive line has been phenomenal.  They rarely let Devito get pressured and always get a good push for Chase. 

Bret Bielema is getting the absolute most out of this roster.  He’s maximized it.  The defense has developed a bunch of pros since he got here, and the offense is at least adequate. It’s the best coaching job from any Illini coach I’ve ever seen.  The last coaching job comparable was Lon Kruger’s 1997 Big 10 champ squad.

Again, I said they were in the minority. But it’s certainly not a requirement that a successful coach act like a douche. Underwood has toned down his act. I think he came in thinking he had to impress people with what a hardass he was, but I’m guessing he learned that wasn’t necessary after all.
