I can't believe nobody wanted to talk about DeVito's great game. 20-22 for 179 yards. And the 2 incompletions were throwaways because the receiver was covered.
And add in his 44 yards on the ground.

Lastly, about Bielema; I didn’t have a positive perception of him before he came here (and I’d bet that negative perception was common among Illinois fans), and unlike with some of the homers here that didn’t change the day he was hired at Illinois. I conceded that calling him “trash” over that incident was a bit harsh, and I feel like he’s conducted himself well here since. People, and perceptions can change. But like I said, my perception of him didn’t change the minute he took the Illinois job.

Agreed. He is certainly being undervalued to this team and deserves WAY more recognition than he is getting.

Can’t say I follow the Illini football threads that closely, but I’m betting he hasn’t taken nearly the amount of criticism as Justin Fields has here. Anything I can recall seeing is we’ve been pretty grateful to have “Danny.”

Wait.  You throw the race card, then say "before you go down that road."  Dude, you just went down that road.  Find one post I have made that mentions race with regard to Justin Fields and his ability.  I have actually been very complimentary of his play these last couple weeks.  I did bring up his questionable at best decision to hurdle Parsons, but I'm sure I'm not the only one.

As far as Danny, he's done well.  You probably don't remember, but I constantly fired on Brandon Peters and Wes Cunt.  Because they sucked.  If Danny sucked, I would fire on his ass too.

I didn’t “pull the race card.” But I do think that old perceptions still linger, and I can’t say with certainty that I don’t fall into those traps occasionally. If I was a Bills fan, would I have been as patient with early 2nd year Josh Allen if he was black? I can’t say for sure. It’s not intentional IMO, but the perception that black QBs don’t read the field well (effective pocket passers) or are better as runners still infects a large portion of the population. For example, I’m not convinced Lamar or Kyler are all that good from the pocket, but I often wonder if it’s because they aren’t, or if old perceptions affect my opinions more than they should.
