Surprised you referenced an unnamed "source."  I thought that was a no-no.   

Hutchinson's testimony of events she directly observed was plenty damming -- she had no reason to make up this kind of story.  The SS agents have more reason to deny it, either for talking about it or taking a job later.

The sentence means absolutely nothing, but implies that Hutchinson's version is correct and that Engel heard the conversation.

I want to hear more about the insurrectionists armed with AR 15s.

I guess this is the story everyone wants to talk about since there is some dispute about the facts.  Trump still wanted to go to the Capitol.  He was frustrated he could not continue his incitement of the armed mob.  That is what is critical.

I noticed that the SS hasn't denied what they TOLD Hutchinson.  They can split hairs endlessly.  My guess is Ornato embellished the story when he told it to Hutchinson and now has to decide which version he is going to stick with.  He's fucked either way.  Just another government institution corrupted by Trump.

Where have the stories about this been for the last 1 1/2 years ?
The area wasnt cleared, Trump was allowed to speak and nobody was arrested.
I dont remember one story of armed individuals being detained or arrested before Trump's speech.

I read Ornato is a career Special Service employee with 23 years experience.

They weren't going through the mags because they were armed. Ergo their arms were not detected

This is what happens when you don't watch the testimony (but seek to question it). She testified about the metal detectors not being used because Trump "knew" people were armed, these were his people and weren't out to get him, and he wanted the Jan 6 rally filled to capacity.

One can surmise from this the Secret Service's reticence in letting him go join the mob seeking to overturn the election.

I take it you didn't watch the hearing? There were even armed men in trees. To get into the Ellipse, they had to through metal detectors and surrender weapons. As a result, the crowd "inside" was relatively  sparse, as many / most? stayed "outside".

Trump was highly pissed about optics and wanted to let them in without going through the 'mags" (magnetometers). The SS refused. He also wanted to walk with them to the Capital. The SS refused because members of the crowd outside the Ellipse we're agressively  exercising 2nd amendment rights. He then tried to get them to drive him to the Capital. They refused and took him back to the White House.  He was livid and threw temper tantrums.

Where indeed has this information been?

Did a media report misidentify a vehicle? Did someone refer to a sig sauer as an ar-15? Do people 17 months later recall different details of Trump's temper tantrums? Are there different recollections of exactly who in what meeting penned a memo? 

Yes, let's focus on these side issues instead of the substance. Ignore that herd of stampeding elephants. We got us a few stray  ants.
