Ehh the incumbents are always at a disadvantage. The average voter doesn’t know shit about ACA subsidies.   They just know whatever their social media feed is pushing. Which, of course, is Trump fear porn.

ACA is garbage and always has been, and now it’s on Republicans to find a better way, extend it, or further alienate the people the Democrats want to be dependent on taxpayer healthcare.

I have no doubt you’ll be incensed, regardless.

By "better way" you mean eliminating it completely towards their goal of eliminating Medicare as god intended?

Incumbents are at a disadvantage? that's a good one. 250 years of US Electoral history say otherwise.

ACA is not taxpayer healthcare. It is private health insurance subsidized by refundable tax credits and heavily regulated by the government. A public option -- Medicare buy in -- would be a good addition.

The only thing better is being dependant on employer sponsored insurance; which is subsidized by tax exemptions and heavily regulated by the government.

The only thing worse is free market health insurance.

The best option would be "Medicare for all" national health insurance.

Yes, incumbents at a disadvantage is a wildly inaccurate statement. In a really bad year House incumbents are re-elected at 85-90%.

Haha, I suppose. Thing is, Reggie's death was completely believable. I took great care in that.

When a troll says incumbents are at a disadvantage, that's incredibly dumb, and I, as a troll, get offended by that kind of shit.

Do better, Cus. For fucks sake.

"It's on Republicans to find a better way." Okie dokie.

How many years have they been pushing "repeal and replace".  Fixing the problem will require planning and strategy, not a strength for the GOP.

Trump should have used the shutdown for cover to get this done.

My guess is Custard is referring to the party that is in power, not individuals, is at a disadvantage in the mid-terms.

To wit - in NJ the Democrats held the Governorship, and retained it.
While the GOP did lose incumbency in VA, the Democrats were in power in the State Assembly. They expanded their majority substantially.

By my count, 9 of the last 12 presidents that ran for re-election won. With one of the losers being re-elected again. Don’t remember congressional elections well enough to a count off the top of my head, but I’m guessing it’s a little more even. The Dems controlled the House for 40
years until 1980.

Yeah Republicans are going to eliminate it completely and just eradicate all government healthcare programs 🙄🙄🙄 just like tariffs were going to bankrupt everyone and the shelves were going to be bare and the economy would tank and all the other alarmist shit you’ve been wrong about

I don’t think incumbents are at any kind of normal advantage in this political environment.  Between social media, blatant state sponsored propaganda, algorithms and feeds, there has never been so much pressure on moderates to feel bad about who is in office and feel good about the challenger.
