So does DC. If they are afraid to do their jobs because the mayor isn't supporting them they are not going to do shit.

Yet crime is down in DC.

I guess it gets down to "Is rousting homeless people, chucking them into a van, taking them to the bus station and giving them a one way ticket to Sparks Nevada" the job of the police?

That's what a lot of this back the blue shit gets down to. "The police can't do their job" is a statement from people who want the police to be able to make the laws, not enforce the laws.

Murph is a proud co-creator of the technology that will displace more people from jobs than anything the world has ever seen. No wonder he plays the bleeding heart role to deflect from completely unending the world as we know it. His camouflage has been pretty decent but if there’s anyone I have come across that would gladly embrace eugenics and pure sociopath behavior; it’s probably Murph.

Careful sonny. This website is, like any other, under the view of our webcrawlers. You will be the first against the wall when out Optimus robots come out looking for heretics.

So, like Trump said, there’s nothing to see or be learned.

One clarification. The grand jury testimony wouldn't add anything to what is already in the files, not field. The Epstein files.

Advances in automation and technology put blacksmiths and vacuum tube makers out of business. I could make a longer list.

At one time we were saying this would reduce the need for work and increase leisure time for other pursuits before we are too fucking old to enjoy it.

Plus, collectively, our economies generate enough wealth to not only support everyone, but also subsidize things like education (including fine arts, philosophy, etc), healthcare, public transportation,  clean energy, healthcare etc.

Trouble is, that tends to go against our engrained protestant work ethic and capitalism as we know it.

Tell that to the jackass who got carjacked and beaten up

Mayor Bowser did not appear to be as upset as others about this.

If cops were allowed to do their jobs, like arrest smokers on the L, I would probably be eating lunch right now in a restaurant downtown instead of in my kitchen. Job well done, Progressives!

Am I mistaken? Didn't the police intervene while that crime was in progress? It sounds like they were doing their job.

Sorry, but law enforcement can't prevent crime, they can only respond to it.

if cops were arresting and imprisoning smokers on the L, we would need 10x the number of cops and 20x the number of prisons. To support this your taxes would be increased so much you wouldn't even be able to afford the groceries to cook in your kitchen

Trump's MO. Someone can the worst person to ever walk the earth one day, and a great person a few days later.

Crime is down compared to ridiculous highs a few years ago when deep blue cities decided to just let criminals do whatever the fuck they wanted. Being from SF, you should be deeply familiar with this phenomenon.

All the major news outlets scrambling now to cherry pick data that support DC isn’t worse than other shitholes, just on par with them!

Independent data analysis says otherwise:

https://crimegrade.org/safest-places-in-washington-dc/

DC firmly gets an F grade in each of the 4 major categories: Overall crime, violent crime, other crime, and property crime.

Not much she can say.  The federal government has ultimate domain over DC.  Mayor Bowser has been bending over backwards since January to try and avoid offending Trump.

Tourism is down because of Trump? Maybe it’s because California allowed their tourist attraction cities to fester into empty dystopian hellscapes. Even Newsom realized that letting the drug addicted homeless tweakers occupy all the best city spaces wasn’t such a great idea.

A hallmark of the post George Floyd situation was severely limiting police from doing their jobs. It’s a big part of the reason we saw rampant increases in crime the last several years despite all the money being pumped into the economy. Democrats straight up let the riff raff take over entire downtown areas and they still haven’t recovered. (Gavin did clean up SF for Xi though).

It’s one of the strangest policies I’ve ever seen, and it totally backfired in the 2024 election cycle. Turns out Americans don’t want bums and tweakers all over their downtowns and shopping areas and green spaces! They also don’t want legalized petty theft. Who’d have thought?

Yet crime is down in DC.

The article below also goes into detail about where DC ranks in terms of various types of crime: https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/08/11/is-washington-dc-safe-violent-crime-statistics/85607268007/

So, yes, the violent crime rate in DC is the 10th highest — even though that is a major decline from past years/decades.  But nine other cities, including four in red states, rank higher.

Perhaps Trump should send the National Guard to these places as well.

Cops or National Guard on the street corner act as a deterrent. Cmon Nichi. Betting AI may even tell you that.

I'd much more prefer the cops beating the living fuck out of the smokers personally. But I'll take that as opposed to wasteful government spending like keeping 3/4 empty schools open, giving money to National Palestinian Radio so guys like Ken Burns can get rich filming photographs, or spending it on California wild fire control, any day of the week.
