There are some good things we've lost, like sense of community, extended family, and home cooked meals.

Are you giving credit to the Boomers for that? Gavin Newsom - Gen X, started the whole gay marriage fight by marrying same sex couples in SF. Prop 8 was passed making same sex marriage illegal, and the demographic that carried it was the Boomers. Obergfell legalized it - the dissenters were Roberts, and Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito - three boomers who have railed against all the things you talk about in your post.

There are two sets of boomers. There were the older, more rebellious boomers for whom Vietnam was the defining event. Then the younger Generation Jones. 

It was the older boomers that were part of the summer of love, attended Woodstock, supported McCarthy and McGovern, campaigned for Civil Rights, took over the Democratic Party in 1968..

The leaders were actually part of the Silent Generation.  The SDS, the Black Panthers, the Beat Poets, the 1950s rockers made it possible for once radical social issues to eventually emerge from the underground into the mainstream.

Same gender marriage became legal because same gender relationships started  becoming more socially acceptable years earlier. it was a gradual process. I still remember asking people, 'what business are you two are in?' 

The Matthew Shepard incident was pivotal. Legal marriage was a belated recognition. Social and cultural change doesn't happen overnight with the  passage of laws.

No. It became legal because of a 5-4 vote in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court doesn't give a shit about what is socially acceptable. They overturned Dobbs.

Not sure which makes me more amused, that there are 12 commas before we hit the first period, or that 21 trillion people were allowed into the US. Also - it's pretty wild that the number that Trump settled on (presuming he meant 21 million, not 21 trillion) is the max number of bitcoin before mining ends.

Have stolen a bunch of funny, thought provoking Trump memes. It seems like they often have a relatively short life though. Sometimes they generate contorted responses from those with TDS (Trump Devotion Syndrome).
