Things did look different in 2014.

Using 20:20 hindsight, European leaders and Obama effed up. Obama hates to admit he could possibly have erred, so he talks around it and makes excuses.

Reasonable men tried to appease AH. They were wrong. Or maybe it wasn't clear yet?

You conveniently forget that Putin started the war.  He didn’t limit his military operations to Donbas.  He wanted to take the entire country. 

Putin has had expansionist designs since he came into power.  Just ask the Chechens, Moldovians, Crimean Tarters, Georgians and Ukrainians.  His invasion of Ukraine was the last straw for both Finland and Sweden.  They both joined NATO because Putin fancies himself as the next Peter the Great who will recreate the Warsaw Pact zone.

Putin could have negotiated a deal with the US and EU that would have guaranteed Ukraine’s borders at the time in exchange for not joining NATO, which wasn’t going to happen anytime soon, if at all.  But he had much bigger plans.

Too bad Trump hitched his wagon to Putin.  Zelensky should have punched him in the f-king mouth when he had the chance.

Whatever he is doing with the Soviets isn't working and is only emboldening them.  Asking Ukraine to capitulate isn't negotiating a peace deal.
