“Liberation Day” (for all who celebrate) has been pushed back to 4 pm ET.  I guess this will give investors more time to short their stocks.  Plus, it gives the administration a few more hours to come up with a plan.

They are gonna go long. Trump will announce a "last second deal" where other countries made some sort of nebulous concessions. Note it's timed after market close

Hard to argue with that.  It aligns with the usual Trump pattern:
(1) Create crisis by doing something stupid;
(2) Reverse course so things return to normal;
(3) Declare crisis solved;
(4) MAGAworld celebrates.

Since you knew it was going to be painful, we can presume you went short the market on Jan 20?

Congress needs to take back the power to impose tariffs.

Quote
Until those laws change—or enough Republicans are willing to oppose Trump openly—the president's tariff agenda will likely continue unchecked. As Slate's Jim Newell wrote, "The House chamber actually passed a rule... that would prevent Democrats from forcing a vote on terminating the national emergency. That means... it would have to be Republican leaders' decision. And Speaker Mike Johnson is effectively an employee of Donald Trump's."

Several economists told Barron’s on Wednesday night that they expect the increases will spur stagflation—a toxic combination of weak growth and high inflation—in the U.S. That could make it difficult for Federal Reserve officials to address weak growth with the usual medicine of cutting interest rates, lest that make inflation worse.

In a mostly fear porn article, they managed to slip this in there, which should make Murph happy, I would think.

The latest tariff increases would raise just under $400 billion in revenue, or about 1.3% of gross domestic product, according to calculations by J.P. Morgan’s
JPM
-6.25%
 Michael Feroli. He says it would amount to the largest tax increase since the Revenue Act of 1968.

Don't know where the low is. We saw this bs happening and remodeled our house last year and bought another one, selling stock to pay the pre-tariff bills for tile, fixtures, etc...

Raising taxes on the wrong people. Who eventually won't pay it as they reduce purchases. It's sort of like a gas tax hike, which I protest by.. not buying gas.
