If Trump is elected; I shall observe with befuddled objective interest. I don't think it would end well. I could be wrong. There are a lot of variables.
I leaned Cato style libertarian for most of my life. I favored free markets, free trade, and open borders with low taxes, minimal regulation, and small government.
I figured the private sector was better at solving problems than the government. Privatization schemes made sense to me.
I voted Republican because they seemed closer to my views. Then along came the Tea Party. The White Nationalists started taking over the Republican Party. I began to reassess and became a recovering libertarian.
Social Democracy, a mixed economy, with elements of free markets and central planning began to make sense. The private sector is still better at some things iff there is free market competition. There is a role for government in transportation, education, healthcare, and public safety. Also regulation to prevent monopolies and predatory capitalism.
Trump was the last straw. I am not really into identity politics, speech codes, etc., so the Democrats are not all that attractive.
As of now, defeating Trump should be the top priority.
