Most people get started on drugs because the drugs came to them, not the other way around.

Most *weak* people. Let em die.

I believe this is still a fact. In the past,  most drug users and addicts were recruited by petty dealers, who were users and addicts themselves. The bigger distributors would front them a small quantity at wholesale prices. The petty dealers would sell enough to pay their debt, and smoke/snort/shoot up their profit.

People also got addicted to various prescription drugs. More recently, we had the opioid crisis.

My position is  we should deal with the problem pretty much how we deal with alcoholism.

By instituting a drinking age but if you are over that age, unfettered access?

Most fentanyl users won’t get the chance to go to AA. Used to be things like heroin and crack were the really dangerous ones.  Those are like play drugs compared to fentanyl. I’m in favor of a multi pronged approach including cracking down on supply and entry.

Hence, 'pretty much'.

When I was in high school, illegal drugs were easier to get than beer. Hard liquor was impossible. My adult children say the same thing.

We also never hear about people going blind or dying from methanol laced hooch.

Illegal booze trafficking to children is not a thing.

Ending prohibition allowed for a safe, legal supply of alcoholic beverages to adults, ending the black market trafficking.

I don't think selling all currently illegal drugs OTC would be the best initial approach. I am thinking make a safe, legal supply of drugs available to diagnosed addicts, along with access to other treatments.

More people die daily from heroin than fentanyl, those that don't are pretty much gonzo anyway.
As has been noted, people aren't even going out to buy fentanyl, the problem is that they want to go take the "play drugs", but the drug dealers are being cheap and trying to substitute. They aren't "fentanyl users", they are meth users, oxycontin users, vicodin users. Those aren't play drugs. People died from oxycontin just the same.

It is going to be really awesome when some US serial killer sent to El Salvador bribes his way out of an El Salvadoran prison and comes back to the States to kill again, isn't it?

Who comes up with this shit?

Sending them to Gitmo? That I am on board with. Send Mike Madigan to Gitmo when he is convicted. Let's ship Ed Burke over there right now.

Hot damn is this hilarious....just got this in my email as I am on the EEOC email list.... emphasis added

The State of the EEOC and Frequently Asked Questions
On January 20, 21, and 29, 2025, President Trump issued a series of executive orders restoring even-handed civil rights enforcement and directing the federal government, including the EEOC, to combat serious patterns of discrimination and harassment that have gone unchecked for too long: Executive Order 14148: Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions; Executive Order 14151: Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing; Executive Order 14168: Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism And Restoring Biological Truth To The Federal Government; Executive Order 14173: Ending Illegal Discrimination And Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity; and Executive Order 14188: Additional Measures To Combat Anti-Semitism.

As of January 28, 2025, the EEOC no longer has a quorum of its bipartisan leadership panel of Commissioners, following the departures of two Commissioners. The Commission panel currently is comprised of Republican Acting Chair Andrea Lucas (designated as Acting Chair by President Trump on January 20, 2025) and Democrat Commissioner Kalpana Kotagal.

Under the leadership of Acting Chair Andrea Lucas, the EEOC remains open for business and fully committed to protecting the civil rights of all Americans, advancing individual equal opportunity for all, and relentlessly combatting private sector and public sector discrimination.

“I am confident that the work of our agency remains critically important, as illustrated by multiple Executive Orders protecting civil rights and expanding individual, merit-based opportunity issued by the President in his first few days in office,” said Lucas. “Given our jurisdiction and mission, the EEOC necessarily will play a critical role. The EEOC is the sole federal agency that enforces federal employment antidiscrimination laws against businesses and other private employers. And, among other things, we also play a critical role by investigating charges against state and local government employers (including public universities) before referring those charges to DOJ’s Civil Rights division.” Lucas emphasized, “The President is committed to enforcing long-standing federal statutes (like Title VII of the Civil Rights Act) and faithfully advancing the promise of colorblind equality before the law—and so am I.”

Actually, this one, from the shit-canned Anti-Business NLRB General Counsel was pretty good too....could tell she was pissed....

Quote
January 28, 2025
NLRB General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo issued the following statement on her last day at the National Labor Relations Board:
“It’s been the greatest honor and privilege to be General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board and to work alongside such talented and dedicated federal employees. We have accomplished so much through our robust education, protection, and enforcement efforts, including empowering workers to collectively seek improved wages, benefits and working conditions from their employers. There’s no putting that genie back in the bottle. So, if the Agency does not fully effectuate its Congressional mandate in the future as we did during my tenure, I expect that workers with assistance from their advocates will take matters into their own hands in order to get well-deserved dignity and respect in the workplace, as well as a fair share of the significant value they add to their employer’s operations.”

El Salvador?  Trump will want to deport the Palestinians in the US, as well.

Jared's got plans for that seaside property.  Saves on demolition costs.  Just got to clear out the locals first.
