Because it would be the tiniest front court in the country and you want a spark off the bench coming in for Alf or Trent. DMW usually takes the toughest defensive assignment. DMW is easier to hide when he’s surrounded by our best scorers. If he comes off the bench with Hawkins or Payne etc we are now playing 2 or 3 on 5 on the offensive end. If you bring Curbelo in with Payne or Hawkins etc you’re still at least playing 4 on 5 on offense and there’s not a huge drop off from first to second unit.

Plus he sat out 11 games and who knows how much time he spent with the scout team when he could practice.

He was out for a long time and while he looked great against Purdue, he might need some more game time before he's 100%

And who cares who's starting if you bring him in shortly after tip off

Seems to be overthinking things. Why not just get out to a 8-10 point lead against most opponents and let Damonte defend that?

These are real things that coaches have to think about when they develop their rotations. Having three 6’ guards playing at the same time is a challenge. Evaluating matchups is critical. Starting lineups aren’t just your five best dudes.
