I respectfully disagree. I think there’s a good deal of evidence there are establishment shenanigans going on here. And I think he should leverage his position to have input to his replacement.
Occam's razor, man. Maybe where's there's smoke, there isn't fire, but if there is smoke all over the fucking place, it's a fire.
To what end would the establishment do this? He's not Fetterman. The establishment is fully behind Sherrod Brown in Ohio, and Sherrod Brown is a lot closer to the AOC/Bernie brand than anything Platner ever said. All the establishment cares about is WINNING THAT SEAT. Platner would have voted the party line 100% of the time, just like AOC does. If AOC ever votes against Hakeem Jefferies, it's not in any situation where legislation would fail. And that's all that matters. He'd get to add his voice to legislation, but just one voice, and a junior one at that.
Letting him slide through the primary then nuking him, and appointing someone by fiat for the nomination? Ever hear of Kamala Harris? This puts the Democrats - establishment or not - in a much worse position. The "establishment" might be dumb, but they ain't THAT dumb.
