The fact remains, one guy was doing 95% of the motion in that video, and it wasn’t the ref.

Yet that purported 5% caused the contact.

Who had to swerve to avoid direct contact?
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

I agree though, it makes perfect sense that a 69 year old man should put himself at risk of taking the full brunt of contact from a giant man in pads coming directly at him in a full jog.

Marsh

Exactly. The ref barely moves. His right foot moves literally about 2-3 inches and he turns sideways in a defensive position.

Marsh put himself squarely in the gray area with the roundhouse kick and then taking 5-6 steps toward the Steelers sideline. Taunting has been a point of emphasis all year.

No one looks at that video twice if they don’t hate the call. But again, Marsh put himself squarely in the gray zone. If a giant man in pads is jogging squarely in my direction, I would tighten my body and turn sideways too. All of us would.

Marsh only had to move to avoid direct contact because the ref purposely stuck his butt out to hit Marsh.

Marsh clearly tried to avoid contact, the ref appeared to try to initiate contact. I don’t know if he did it on purpose or not but it certainly appears he tried to initiate some level of contact with Marsh.

But, but, but the one is a big scary football player, and the other is a feeble old man that once saw a karate film.

Have already pointed out that if I were trying to avoid contact I’d move away from the path of the person instead of directly into it, so leave me out of your “all of us would”.  I think it’s clear from the reaction that you are in a very tiny minority thinking he moved away from contact when he moved towards it.

I’d buy, to some degree, just a brain fart.  Saw a guy moving at me, brain reacted and I stupidly moved into the guy instead of away from him.  But pretending he didn’t move into Marsh is really weird, it’s clear in the video to everyone I’ve talked to but one.

I'm going with Marsh said something to the punter who was coming on the field.
Ref heard it, he started reaching for his flag and the violent collision with Marsh was a nothing.
Still hiding behind innuendo and practicing the art of ommision.

Correct.

I just can’t understand how anyone can delude themselves into thinking the ref went into a defensive posture and tried to avoid contact.

What the ref did is exactly what people do in crowded places when they see someone they want to talk to walking toward/behind them and want to get their attention.
