"Although the Illini matter in his recruitment and he’ll be there on Monday, Kanon was born and raised in Indiana, and he said he didn’t really grow up an Illinois fan."

It'd be nice if more of our legacy kids actually grew up fans and wanted to come here as a first-choice.

Have not had a lot to cheer for until only recently (and we all know what happened in the tournament that actually matters).

Everyone wants legacy kids, however that said, I will gladly keep the recruiting process that we now have. We are getting kids committed or at least interested from everywhere. If we get legacy or in state fine, but not concerned with either anymore with how things are going.

#35 IN WHITE, this kid is going to be scary...very much a kid the likes of Gonzaga normally gets. He runs the floor very well, going from 6'4-6'11 late is going to work out great with some more physicality and strength.

WELCOME ABOARD ZACHARIE!!!

Perrin reminds me of Augie with the footwork and passing abilities....lets hope he turns into that player.

Hopefully he does not get into foul trouble in the NCAA Championship game.

Augustine was a way better athlete.  You can’t trust foreign tape.  It could make guys like Verdonk or Vesel look like players.

I don’t think this guy will give us much, at least not early, but he’s much higher regarded than those other guys were.

Do you work at coming up with utter nonsense, or is it a natural gift.?

Matic Vessel was a total reach.

Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk was a possible find, but afaik he was not a top player in his age group in Belgium.

Perrin, at age 17,  is one of the top under 21 players in Europe. He has earned some sort of mvp awards in a couple competitions.

On the comparison to Augie. Perrin is tall, long, agile, runs the court, likes to slip the screen,  and is left handed. That is a natural comparison. Yes, Augie was a better athlete. Perrin has shown some ball skills.

When people make comparisons, they seldom mean a player is a clone or will be an equal talent.

I would be very surprised if he didn't redshirt this year

Yeah I see almost zero chance he provides anything this coming year.

Think I’d have preferred Seymour Butz as an experienced stopgap to try and maximize this team’s ceiling and then grab a multi-year big at semester break, next year’s transfer portal, or a better one from the HS ranks in 23.

Perrin absolutely is not one of the top U21 players in Europe and I’ll prove it.

Perrin is from France.  Don’t you think he would have been on the France U19 team last year if he was as good as you think he is?

Well he wasn’t even on that team.
