Admissions of foreign students is something I have heard discussed, but I dunno know much. I do favor trade with China. Probably, UIUC likes the out of state tuition? Does the state provide adequate funding? Feds?

I suppose Shannon could use his covid year here and graduate in 5 years. But he might prefer to get the bachelor's degree in 4 years and use the 5th toward a master's.

A good chunk of the blame for UIUC admissions’ policy should go to the Governor’s office and state legislature.  20+years of disinvestment in higher education that was started by Blago and compounded by Rauner.
