I wonder what Michigan will do. Started five transfers. The new blueprint. Buy a team with all the right pieces and the right coach and sky is the limit.

We are currently sitting at 4 sure losses:

Wagler
Humrichous
Boswell
Redd

Likely losses:
Fagbemi
Petrovic (unless agent pushes back)
Bilic (favor to agent or stays?)
Jakstys (maybe another mid major transfer-injuries-etc)

That would leave us at 7 open slots for this coming year filled currently by Coleman, Morillo, Davis/Brown (both could redshirt imo).

That would leave us with The Vic's (4) and Rodgers/Davis (2) the (4) newcomers,  10 total players on roster, 3 add ons or up to 15 total for the team next year. Now maybe 1-2 of the "maybe's" leave or not?

Blackwell would be priority #1 obviously, although I am of the opinion if we lose out to others here, we can have a solid backcourt with Coleman/Morillo. Coleman is going to have us all salivating again imo. Morillo is underrated also and can spell Andrej on the wing, with Rodgers as well. Next stop had better get an athletic B1G or 2 to join the fray!!

Zavier Zens is on campus....would be a perfect Andrej replacement next year. Can we land him though? Who knows, no portal info as of yet on anyone.

Updates: Security around recruiting plans seems to be very tight. Vibes I am getting:

Wagler and his family are not 100% ready for him to turn pro. Just a few months ago he was planning to possibly redshirt. He will likely go, but had not decided.

Hate to say it, but as of now, seems like Rodgers likely won't return.

We are in good shape with John Blackwell and his dad would like hm to come here.

Meanwhile, fwiw Andrej Stojakovic is in California working with elite NBA trainer Jordan Lawley -- In preparatiom.for the Draft

Recruiting and retention are fluid

Not a surprise

NEWS: Illinois' Mihailo Petrovič will enter the transfer portal, agent Miško Ražnatović told DraftExpress.

The 23-year-old Serbian point guard played sparingly for the Illini, but will have two years of NCAA eligibility remaining. https://x.com/i/status/2043018076707254613

Another non-shocker: Wagler officially declares for the draft

Will go down as an Illini legend and one hell of a success story. Go be great at the next level, kid!

As much as I'd love to see Wagler as a national player of the year candidate here, he'd be nuts to not take the NBA route now.

Petrovic is the least surprising transfer in years. Stojakovich being gone would be no surprise. Rodgers would surprise me a bit.

Latest is Ty Rodgers is trending likely staying. Also Andrej.

Blackwell probably us or Duke, with us having an edge, but Duke is still Duke.

They also supposedly like this guy:

Wags was just a pleasure to watch play and I hate to see him go.

"This follows the most decorated freshman season ever by an Illini, where Wagler set program freshman records in the following categories: total points (663), scoring average (17.9 ppg), 20-point games (11), field goals (202), three-pointers (87), free throws (172), starts (37), minutes (1,254) and wins (28)."
From the UI hoops site.

The skinny freshman from Kansas also averaged 5 rebounds a game and a 2.4:1 assist to turnover ratio.
Stay healthy, have a great career and thanks. 👏👏👏

Lucas Morillo played at the Nike Hoops Summit 12pts, 3 rebs, 2 Asst, 3 steals, 2-4 from 3, 3 T/O and 4 PF.....21 minutes of play.

I would venture to say that we may have us another under-rated guard/wing player, retain Andrej....Morillo gets some of his minutes, + guard minutes. With Coleman and him both, we will be solid at guard play, with or without Blackwell....although I would love to have him or Wilkins actually.

Are we assuming we are losing Andrej? He says himself that he loves it here. I would think he would be likely to return.
