Make no mistake we really wanted Fears, but just not in the 24 class, and even if he had stay committed, the 25 team would still be partially intact from this 24 roster left overs. Not all will go PRO after 1 year, not all will look to jump ship.

Fears would have been up against it PT wise imo with a partial/full 2024 team left over to compete against.

I watched the Sleepers bit about this a little bit ago and their thoughts were that he’d have been really hard pressed to find time as a 2024 freshman here with all the moves we’ve made since he committed. Not to mention the staff seems to be all-in on Jasper Johnson. Long ways to go in that one, but he’s a better player and fits the mold better. Fears can’t really shoot at this point and his strengths at the level he’s playing now will be nullified to a large extent when he’s up against bigger, more athletic collegiate players that have learned how to play defense. Those guys thought it was really strange that after Fears committed we brought in Boswell for 2 years then got KJ and then put the full court press on Jasper Johnson, and the Fears decommit makes it all make more sense now.  Fears family thinks the kid is 1 and done material and if he reclasses he might not even see the floor here in year 1. And still be behind Boswell and/or KJ and JJ year 2.

Would not be surprised to see a final pick for J Fears being Michigan (Dug gone it is gone) and new coach as well....NEED guard play this year!!!

That is my guess...easy to get into, (9th in the transfer portal 24/7), only ranked sub 50 in overall rankings...with Tre Donaldson from Auburn only competition in front of him really. Not to mention the $$$$ I am sure will be there as well.

ILLINI is composite at 50th btw, but guard play and in/out guards favors us WAY more than Michigan obviously.

Illini aren't in the top 30 in this updated ESPN ranking.. 

I'm not buying Purdue as top 20.  Edey seemed to have really carried Purdue in the past.

UCONN has a legit shot to 3peat.

The legit ones would be imo: Kansas, Alabama, Gonzaga, are all Top Caliber with legit chances to win the whole thing.

Wanna Be's UCONN, (3rd ain't happening), Baylor, Duke, UNC, Tex A/M, Indiana, Rutgers.

The rest of the Top 25 and beyond is far to unknown to even think about where they will end up. If BU can work his magic again, Sweet 16 maybe (?), talent would suggest more as well, but who knows. It will be fun to watch the growth and team play.

I don't get these rankings. Arkansas is stacked but has 3 other SEC teams of less desired recruits/returners ahead of them, and all four of those teams are above Creighton, who return 2 of the best players from the no. 10 team in the country and add Texas Tech's best player.

From 19 down is a crap shoot of teams that aside from Texas I don't get. Kentucky cleaned house and I wouldn't trade any of their starters for ours one-up.
